Homeopathy for Mastectomy Recovery

Globally, the use of homeopathic remedies for health and vitality is booming and the good news is that, in addition to being a stand alone modality, homeopathy can also be used as a support for mainstream medicine and medical procedures. You do not have to choose between methods - take the best from both for your benefit.

We live in a time where more demands are put on our bodies in the form of stress and anxiety, reduced nutrition in our food supply due to soil depletion coupled with increased heavy metal incidence, and increased toxins in air and water. These factors are compounded by lifestyle factors like being sedentary, drinking alcohol, and being overweight. It all adds up and while our bodies are designed to deal with these demands, the levels we’re exposing them to are unprecedented and are showing in our health markers. There are many factors that contribute to health markers but general consensus is that there are things we can do to decrease our risk.

Homeopathy can help support our bodies in doing the work they were designed to do and, when conventional medicine is required, homeopathy can support specific procedures as well.

Here’s an example from a prospective, randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial that was conducted in Israel in 2016-2017 regarding the benefits of homeopathy to support mastectomy recovery. This is a particularly relevant example to me as this is a protocol I’ve followed in my practice and the findings of the research study bring objective measurements to what I’ve seen clinically. First, I’ll describe the protocol, then the results and conclusion of the research trial.

Mastectomy homeopathic protocol:

Remedies: Arnica montana 30c and Bellis perennis 30c

Day one - 4-6x doses of each, starting immediately upon waking after surgery

Day two through four - 3-5x doses of each daily

Day five through drain removal - just Bellis perennis 30c, 1x/day

The results of the trial were impressive:

Those using the homeopathic remedies saw significantly reduced drain removal time (discharge <30 ml) by 18% (2.4 days; P< 0.05). Age, body mass index, mastectomy type, and lymph node dissection were similar among groups. Patient opioid intake was lower (P < 0.057) in the study group. Quality of life, postoperative pain, hemoglobin and cortisol levels, and complications were not associated with any treatment.

The conclusion of the trial is that use of the Arnica montana and Bellis perennis homeopathic protocol has been shown to reduce seroma formation and opioid intake following mastectomy and reconstruction. Because this treatment lacks side effects and is inexpensive, it should serve as a valuable treatment adjunct in patients undergoing mastectomy and reconstruction.

The above example is one of many indications for homeopathy benefiting medical procedures recovery. If you are looking for all natural and side-effect free support for conventional medical care, please reach out to see how homeopathy can support you.
